A great bargain box set, absolutely worth every penny and much more :-)I have read these books individually so here is my review of each;
💥Cocktail for two; Book one💥
Now I initially read this without reading the synopsis at all simply because a hot M/M read.....hell to the yeah, I was all over that.
But it was much more than that...it was mysterious...it was utterly enthralling....Jason Meets Brad...they share a drink...they then share more, and then?
This instalment was a great play on words, it was very different from most short reads and I absolutely applaud that and I liked the whole feeling of this story and simply wonder what is going to happen next.
A short, thrilling ride and it left me wondering what was next for Brad but mostly what would come next for his 'companions'
💥The Rest of the Night; Book two💥
So after finishing 'Cocktail for two' I was anticipating another top class read and I certainly was not disappointed in the least.
We spent a fair amount of time on Matt before the illusive Brad 'came' into equation...quite literally it would seem!
Matt...sensitive it appears...unsatisfied after an encounter previously...trying to recreate a sexual experience from a 'stranger' but never managing it...after a particularly stressful encounter he stumbles on 'Brad' and it becomes more intriguing and more confusing (confusing in a good way) from this point.
Who the hell is Brad?
What happens to Matt?
The ending....really cleverly done and has certainly left me in a 'WTH' scenario.
I love the writing style...I love that because it's not in Brads POV it leaves us unsure of his motives and allows the mysterious air to continue...I love that its so very different to many other books out there right now.
So well played Lou Watton...I'm a new fan and just be very happy I don't know where you live because It would be very likely that I would rock up just to see what happens next!
💥Punting and Whispering; Book three💥
I am not entirely sure where to begin here.....Punting and whispering was a highly anticipated release in this Brad on holidays series and with that comes a certain expectation I think.
Did it deliver....yes it did in spades let me tell you.
A chance meeting between Brad & Jeremy, an instant connection that is gone as quickly as it materialised....so still thinking on this Brad decides to revisit an old haunt which is Cannes, a comfortable place for Brad it seems and lo and behold who does he meet there.
Jeremy and Brad come together in another erotic explosion of the mind, body and soul it seems but is this fate or something else entirely?
Things progress quickly in Brads true form but despite this I really felt the connection between the two men right down to my toes but with it written in Jeremy's
POV it's very hard to tell whether Brad truly feels each connection so strongly or if there is something else going on that we are not party to quite yet, but even so Jeremy's feelings and intentions are very clear from the outset and portrayed with some genius
' My body shivered in excitement, which was more of a reverence than a lust'
The sexual encounters were truly erotic, again very detailed and specific but absolutely spot on for this style of book and I'm pretty sure I was holding my breath for a good part of it too!
The writing was intricate and detailed, each encounter, each place and every feeling thought out and written with precision, so much so that I have never really seen this in many other works and that is to me what makes this series and this author so very special, a rare find and I almost want to keep him to myself but that would be incredibly selfish of me to stop you all experiencing such a joy of words, and to stop Mr Watton from receiving the praise he so deserves.
(Oh and that ending of the book...no spoilers but Mr Watton how could you...)
His best work yet and this series becomes better and better with each instalment and I experienced a gamut of emotions and yes that included tears and a feeling of emotional devastation that is very difficult to accomplish in a short read.
So in summary a short read that packed a huge punch and I am going to be banging down your door for the next one or I would if I knew where you lived!
So massive congratulations sir and I continue to remain a huge fan!
💥Vicious Circuit; Book four💥
Brad's adventures continue in book four in one of the most enthralling series I have ever read.
This time Brad is in Barcelona but in the style of all the other books this is in the POV of the 'acquaintance' which this time is Chris.
Book four jumps straight in quite literally into a 'scorch your pants off' scene that took my breath away from the off, no gentle build up here, and there's no need for that build up cause let's face it we are getting the hang of Brad and his liaisons now aren't we?
The simple answer is no we aren't because quite cleverly Lou Watton manages to titilate and thrill us whilst still leaving us completely in the dark as to who Brad really is and what on earth he is up to, is he just a player or is he much much more, I don't have any idea....still
Soooo Chris meets Brad quite unexpectedly after a 'previous meeting' and off they go on their adventure.....I don't want to give any spoilers but this tryst was a little different to the others but despite that Chris appears to have fallen quickly for Brad but once again we are left with more questions than answers.
Another stunning read, it was erotic, it was humorous in places, it was just that good and I'm struggling to put into words just how much I am captivated by the story, by the way it's written, its directness, it's mystery because its main character does not have a prevalent voice, it's intelligent writing at its best.
So Mr Watton bring on the next city, the next conquest and some clues to help me out because I'm desperate to know just who the heck is 'Brad'....
Oh, and a shout out to the illustrator Grishar ....that cover....yeah just stunning '
Waiting not so patiently for book 5....
